The
following analysis is based on my astrological conclusions alone, and
is not part of any official Saint Seiya edition !
Leo
Aiolia is one of the few Golden Saints who took up more significant
position in the plot, by their mere other-than-fighting interaction
with numerous characters. Even though Aiolia was brought to us much
closer than most of other Goldies, for an average fan that is still
far from enough. Some touchy subjects were only briefly scratched, while
most would like to see further development of the character, exploration
of his relations to others, as well as to have some deeper insight into
his emotions and personality. In what way had his older brother's fate
affected the young, ambitious boy who was only 7 at the time of Aiolos'
death ? He had all of sudden become "the brother of a traitor"
and apparently started to hate Aiolos for what he thought was betrayal
of him as well. However, erasing the memory of his niisan turned out
to be a difficult task, the more difficult the more had Aiolos been
his ideal and his only support, from the early childhood. In regard
to other residents of Sanctuary, Aiolia thus developed an inferiority
complex, feeling ashamed every time Aiolos' name was mentioned, which
proves that he still wore his brother in his heart, no matter what he
said. Eventually, this complex has retreated before another one mechanism
- compensation (it represents an intensified effort of the whole individual
to neutralize a feeling that is holding him back), which helped him
out to have it all over his environment, although he couldn't overcome
the constant need to prove himself, over and over again.
As far as romance is being concerned, Masami Kurumada didn't take much
heed of its aspects in the series, but he has still clearly made his
point of Marin being an object of Aiolia's love interest and vice versa.
However, it's Aiolia's relation to Shaina that brings up many questions
as well. Especially considering that he was seen with Shaina more often
than with Marin and had even promised Cassios' spirit that he would
take care of her for him (and we all know how well Cassios took care
of Shaina...). The answer may partly lay in opposite personalities of
this two girls - while Marin is rather reserved and shy, keeping Aiolia
at arm's length with her courtesy (although she's truly fond of him),
Shaina is direct, aggressive and bold, so there's no need to handling
her in gloves or whatsoever, which makes her easier for communication
, even that communication is but quarel. But why would Aiolia pay attention
to her at all, if Marin is the one he's in love with? We were denied
the answer to that question during the anime, but on the other hand,
following that line would easily turn the series into some kind of animated
'Dynasty'. That's why Kurumada left us enough space for imagination,
previously fulfilling somewhat that space by giving out some important
details about each character (such as date and place of birth, blood
group, training grounds, etc.). That's not much, you'd say, but with
the little help of astrology, that's all you need to get the bigger
picture. If read right, position of planets in personal horoscope can
reveal the very psychological core and tendencies of every individual.
I'm often asked and love to write astrological analyses about people,
so that's what I've tried to do with Aiolia, as if he was a real person.
However, with one important data missing - the exact hour of his birth
- I had to improvise, so I made several chart-calculations for each
hour of the given date, that meaningfully changes the horoscope's data.
Comparing the results to the facts that are already known about Aiolia,
I opted for an approximate hour of his birth. What I got is the profile
that stunningly fits to Kurumada's conception of this character.

When we take a look at Aiolia's horoscope, the first thing we'll notice
is that majority of the planets are situated under the horizon (between
ASC and DESC), at the right side of the Meridian. Also that the most dominant
components are two opposite elements - fire and water, two elements that
are annulling each other's extremities and, and thus are giving Aiolia
well balanced personality and harmony between his feelings and his actions.
The element of fire stands behind his passionate and temperamental nature,
while the element of water leads his emotional life to the unimagined
depths. This is romantic idealist of an adventurous sprit and rich inner
life. He belongs to the group of fixed signs, whose people are stable,
reliable and own great psychical and physical energy.Culminate
planet, Neptune in Scorpio, gives Aiolia somewhat boemic nature, a love
toward sea, women and good drink. Unfortunately, as all the people who
are born under this planet, he has to bear pain and suffer losses throughout
his life.
Aiolia was born with the four planets in Leo (the Sun, the Moon, Mercury
and Venus), and thus has many typical traits and faults of this sign.
He appears as a commanding, powerful, dignified, generous, strong-willed,
and reliable individual who possesses a flare for the life of nobility
and regality. He views life very clearly and has a natural ability for
leadership and for designating authority. He's usually cheerful and fond
of amusements, but the key word to his temperament is positive pride.
His life is in many ways influenced by decisions he makes that have been
motivated by his pride, desire for power, for authority, and his need
to convince others of his courage.
Another, somewhat negative aspect of this zodiacal sign, is that his personality
becomes excessively charged with passion and sexual desire. On the other
hand, this sign grants in life a fine physical shape and a strong, healthy
constitution, as well as a tremendous amount of vitality.
Willpower is a characteristic of his personality. He seeks opportunities
and when he finds them he goes to it, using both his mind and his emotions
to strive for success with zeal and determination. He is very self-confident
and he implements ideas with a self- assurance that lets nothing get in
his way of success. He feels that he has an important mission and that
the petty matters that affect others do not refer to him. Because of Aiolia's
sense of pride and frankness, he may feel unappreciated when he doesn't
receive from others the openhanded treatment that he himself gives.
The Sun, giver of light and the king of our solar system, was found in
the fifth house at the time of his birth. This is a very significant location
for the Sun, which makes Aiolia stand out in a crowd. Because of this
outstanding quality, he doesn't need to strive to make a stronger impression
when he encounters someone who is attractive to him. His love life promises
to be very rich and will list many rewarding emotional attachments. Leo
is the sign of the lover, and the Sun in this house gives his personality
grace, generosity and charm. Aiolia tends to give and receive love freely,
and will surround his loved one with tenderness, lavishing attention on
her, which may startle or overwhelm someone who is not accustomed to it.
He can give out too much of a good thing. He tries to bring happiness
and protection to those he loves. However, in affection he may become
too patronizing. In love he's wholehearted, very affectionate, and passionate,
but still conducts himself with dignity and certain pose. Aiolia's pride
is very sensitive in matters connected with his emotional nature. He can
be easily injured if his possessiveness and majesty in love is threatened.
He is very magnanimous and forgiving with those he loves, often turning
a blind eye to their misconduct and will extend many positive qualities
along with natural protection and strength. His life is oriented towards
success in society and pleasurable activities.
The Moon, the earth satellite, that was also found in the fifth house
in conjunction with the Sun, indicates that he was born with a knack for
dealing with people and ability to communicate with them. His emotional
nature is very much geared to his love towards pleasure, and he possesses
a very curious aptitude. However, in spite of his positive qualities,
the fact of the matter is that he can be very changeable in love. His
love feelings are very well developed and lead toward strong drives for
sensations and passionate tendencies, that unfortunately aren't directed
at one object alone. Aiolia enjoys the presence and love of many, but
in the end he will probably lock his truly heartfelt loyalty and love
to one person only, as long as he's given freedom to be.
He has a certain
infectious quality that enables him to lead others in good times.
Thus it is easy for him to become involved in a love relationship for
the mere joy and entertainment it provides. But he may be unwilling to
confront the more problematical aspects of a relationship because he doesn't
intend to get involved in such complications. For him, lovemaking is a
positive and enjoyable form of recreation. He does not sharply separate
his love life from the rest of his pursuits, and much of the same pleasure
he derives from sex he can also get from other forms of recreation and
social contact. His lover should be as much a free spirit as him and should
enjoy social gatherings, because Aiolia feels unfulfilled if he's alone
for a long time.
At the time of Aiolia's birth the zodiacal sign of Aries was ascending
in the horizon. Its ruler Mars was located at the 4th house. Aries is
the first sign of the zodiacal belt and its natives seem also desirous
of being "first" in all activities with which they happen to be involved.
The cardinality of the sign makes Aiolia extremely active and capable
of displaying ambition, impulsiveness, courage, and boldness in order
to satisfy his desire for prominence in the world. The general course
of his life is filled with many 'ups' and 'downs' and changes conforming
very much with the psychological nature of his temperament. Whether he
triumphs or not in life will depend on his ability to develop his most
positive inborn qualities and, simultaneously, exert some control over
his less favorable characteristics, such as a lack of prudence, and a
certain disregard for the feelings and opinions of others. The secret
for a better integration of a leonine personality would be awareness of
his limitations and to acquire some humility. Aries gives him a tendency
to be inclined toward activities that necessitate pioneering ideas and/or
a militant disposition. One of Aiolia's problems may be that in his love
for achievement in novel projects he tends to destroy old concepts and
former contributions which would, perhaps, have been useful for his endeavors.
Impulsive, critical, despising mean or dubious acts, he will create many
excellent friendships but also important enemies. His life is rich in
passion and ardent love. In sexual matters he is quick, aggressive, and
to the point. Aiolia is a lover of pleasures, which he feels with a bright,
open, and sparkling character. This indicates a life of activity, dynamism,
many ups and downs and struggles, to which he'll adopt an attitude of
courage, initiative, and enterprise.
Venus, the planet of love and harmony,at the time of his birth was technically
near the end of the 4th house and is therefore interpreted in the fifth
house. Venus was in conjunction with Mercury, Mars and Jupiter. At first
glance this denotes rich, intense, and pleasant emotional events that
will enhance Aiolia's psychic nature. He is a person who could be regarded
as fortunate in love and very successful. Whereas Venus grants the basic
capability to reach full enjoyment from love and emotional involvement,
it also indicates a tendency to be somewhat inconsistent, volatile, and
changeable in romance. Although he is capable of loving intensely and
with devotion, the tendencies are to lose interest after a certain time.
Aiolia would be in a better position if he could exert some control over
his span of interest. These aspects also indicate that he has a generous
helping of desire and a healthy sexual appetite. His taste runs to all-over-the-body
sensuality rather than to localized tastes. He isn't concerned with impressive
accouterments; he just wants pleasure to be readily available. If there
is any drawback to this position, it is that he demands high standards
and will not stand for niggardliness or boredom. For him, love is a happy,
joyful experience, and his partner should share his open and optimistic
approach. Whatever he wants, he wants it then and there. Although he values
close personal communication with a partner, he feels that it is better
achieved on a mental plane rather than through sex. Aiolia needs an artful
lover, but one who retains a sense of youthful innocence, for whom experience
and technique are not ends in themselves. Love must always retain the
purity and beauty of a flower.
Mars in the fourth house brings some domestic troubles and surroundings
which are not harmonious to him. Fate demands that Aiolia develops very
strong and resistant attitudes to maintain the security and integrity
of his life. His disposition is frank, open and outspoken. Many of the
events of his existence are accelerated by his own impulsiveness, persistence
and also by his fearless spirit to conquer and go forward. He strives
to satisfy his ambition which consists of reforming and improving the
world. In communicating with others, Aiolia is usually very consistent,
at times too sincere. His attitude, however, is impulsive, ambitious,
enterprising and domineering. He will strike a note of dignity and justice
with all with whom he communicates. He is very proud and cannot stand
insult. This quality is overcompensated for by his generous, noble and
open disposition. Life should have a place for him at the top. Position
of Mars in Cancer, conjugating Jupiter and trining Neptune and Uranus,
gives him a tendency to be a careful and thoughtful lover who creates
an all-encompassing sexual experience for his partner. He is able to transmit
a certain intimacy and security through lovemaking that few others can
achieve. To enhance this quality, he'll rather express his love in somewhat
protected, familiar circumstances that complement his style. Although
his sexual technique is pretty fundamental, his manner of loving has considerable
strength, and his partner can always depend on him in a pinch. He will
be happiest with a lover who is quieter and more reticent in order to
balance his dominant tendencies. He is best suited to someone who will
let him take the initiative.
Saturn, the planet of destiny, was in Pisces, in the twelfth house at
the time of his birth. This planet places many unpleasant and annoying
obstacles in Aiolia's life, and intensifies the feelings he has about
the limitations of his environment. Saturn in this position also indicates
unjustified persecution, ideological and existential crises and severe
renunciations. Aiolia's professional honor affects his feelings very much
and he's truly satisfied only when things go well. Destiny may have to
teach him to deal with certain complexes that are nesting in his subconscious
and showing up in his mind as morbid hypersensitivity, wanting to be alone
and to do things by himself so no one will know how he feels. This planet's
position also results in some emotional hang-ups. He wants close, intimate
contacts with others, but he tends to keep people at arm's length because
he's afraid he'll become obligated to them.
Jupiter, the planet of luck,
in Cancer, in the 4th house, indicates a significant help that Aiolia
receives from a close family member, as well as his attachment to his
native land. Aiolia respects tradition, principles and has a strong sense
of duty while attaining an appropriate social position is at the top of
his priority list.
Uranus, the planet of sudden changes, and Pluto,the
occult planet, conjunct in Virgo, in the sixth house, which is a very
rare aspect that only happens every 115 years. This position should denote
a large amount of vitality, with much energy and dynamism in everything
that Aiolia does, and enough potential and strong will to sustain the
more negative circumstances. This position indicates that he's strongly
influenced by his feelings and moods. His awareness of himself is influenced
by his momentary feelings, and this perception is subject to rapid changes
of mood and emotion. This astrological combination may also lead him into
clandestine love affairs. Unless he uses a great amount of tact and diplomacy,
these secret affairs may create social complications that force premature
termination. Elaborate courting is not his game. Because of his honesty,
his love affairs may begin and end quite abruptly, as he has no desire
to continue a relationship that is no longer working well. The main advantage
of this position is that it indicates a strong, forceful personality.
But he must use that power carefully in his love relationships. At times
he may find it difficult to decide exactly what he wants out of a relationship,
or he may find out what he would really have enjoyed only after the affair
is over. For this reason, it would be a good idea to prolong his courtship
in order to find out what each partner wants and expects before making
a commitment. He appreciates a lover who doesn't discuss their personal
life with others; in fact, he is quite attracted to the idea of carrying
on an affair in secret.
He seems to have an open, straightforward nature
without too much complexity: self- confident and charming, with an honest
natural social grace. This may reflect his inner nature, but as often
as not, his cheerful, outgoing appearance hides a much more complex and
inward-turned personality. However, the disadvantage of this duality is
that he may feel pressured to sustain an image that he doesn't truly feel
within.
